    Connect to the LumaNet network. The sign-in page opens on its own; if it doesn't, open any website.

    Confirm your number

    Enter your Safaricom, Airtel or Telkom number. We text you a 6-digit code that works for 5 minutes.

    Use free access for government sites, or buy a package with M-Pesa and you're online as soon as the payment goes through.

Paying with M-Pesa

There's no paybill number to type. After you choose a package:

  1. 1 An M-Pesa prompt pops up on the phone number you signed in with, showing the package price.
  2. 2 Enter your M-Pesa PIN. Keep the sign-in page open while you do.
  3. 3 Safaricom sends its usual confirmation SMS, and the page switches to “Payment Successful” with a voucher code.

No prompt?

Unlock your phone and check that the number you entered is your M-Pesa line. Prompts expire after about a minute; just tap Confirm & Pay again. You are only charged once you enter your PIN.

How your package behaves

Time runs from purchase

A Daily package lasts 24 hours from the moment you pay, whether you stay connected or not. It doesn't pause when you leave the hotspot.

Share it with your other devices

Each paid package comes with a voucher code by SMS. Enter it on a laptop or a second phone (up to three uses) to put them on the same package.

Your phone is remembered

For 30 days, the same device skips the SMS code and goes straight to your account. Logging out from Profile clears this.

You get an SMS at the end

We text you when your package expires so you're not left wondering why pages stopped loading.

Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Your phone number is your account. The first time on a device you confirm it with an SMS code; after that the device is remembered.

Can I buy a new package before my current one ends?

Yes. The time on the new package is added to whatever paid time you have left, so nothing is lost, and the new package's speed applies straight away.

I paid but I'm not connected.

Keep the M-Pesa confirmation SMS. Most payments are confirmed within seconds; if nothing changes after two minutes, open the sign-in page again and you'll see the payment on your account. If it still isn't there, send us the M-Pesa code and we'll check it against our records.

Why didn't my SMS code arrive?

Codes can take up to a minute. You can ask for a new one after 60 seconds, and only the newest code works. Check the number you typed, and that your line can receive SMS.

Which networks work?

Any Kenyan line can receive the sign-in code. Paying needs an M-Pesa line, so Safaricom for now.

Is the speed guaranteed?

The speed on each package is a cap, not a promise. You get up to that speed; when many people are on the same hotspot, it can be lower.
